Hi! So nice to meet you!

Welcome to The Picky Preschooler!

I thought for a first blog post, an introduction might be a good way to get started.

I'm Renee, a 32 year old mom of one adorable little boy. I'm a marketer by day, working for a global professional services firm. BUT, in my spare time, cooking is my passion. I love to tinker with recipes and experiment in the kitchen.

So why start a blog? Well, the answer is two-fold:

1) My husband is constantly telling me to write down my recipes. Why? Because I never do and I'm always trying to recreate meals that never taste the same. So this gives me a place to document said recipes (and I don't have to hear about the "lunch bag let down" on my husband's end).

2) The second reason is because my son is the pickiest eater ever! He wasn't always like this. In fact, he was always an amazing eater until about 15 months. That's when I needed to get a bit more inventive. But I thought if I can share successful recipes with a broader group of moms and dads, maybe we can end up with a bunch of healthy little humans running around!

I've always been passionate about food - no one loves a bag of kettle cooked chips more than me! But it wasn't until I got pregnant with my son that I became super interested in health and nutrition.

I started doing a lot of research and attending workshops and before I knew it, my whole lifestyle changed! I was so much more conscious of what we were eating - the amounts of sugar, salts, carbs, fats, fruits, veggies, etc. There were so many things I was learning - how we metabolize our foods, how certain foods convert into sugars, combinations that best absorb those vitamins, blah blah blah. I'm certainly not a doctor or nutritionist, and advice on what you should and shouldn't eat is constantly changing (which is so frustrating, but always consult your doctor), but if I can give you insight on what has worked with my family - whole, balanced, nutritious and delicious meals - then why not share them!

So stay tuned for upcoming recipes, tips, tools and tricks to keep you and your littles healthy and happy!
